It’s almost the end of the week already! Before too long it’ll be Sunday (tomorrow night there’s a match at 8PM), then Bank Holiday, then everyone here will be back to work. The following Sunday marks 2 years since I sued Matthew J. Garrett and Rianne did the same, then some days later it’s our wedding anniversary.

oday at 9AM we’ll leave the house and won’t return until it’s late. No E-mail, no Web surfing, nothing of that sort…

One of the best gifts one can have is peace of mind.

Of course I did buy some gifts, but those aren’t gadgets, they’re actually useful things.

T seems like “Sleepy” the bird is improving at keeping good balance on the doorknobs and eating the seeds without jumping on the jar and flapping her wings like mad. Unlike “Bot” (Bottle) and her friend, “Sleepy” is a reasonably recent recruit and she doesn’t have good table manners. Sometimes she climbs on the doors, she is fearless about it, and this used to result in a mess (spillages). We began calling her “Sweepy” because she was sweeping the seeds aside instead of eating them properly.

Progress is being made by discouraging bad habits.

How could I have missed this hobby of adorable pets (creatures) all those years?

want to say this without any baseless assumptions made about my intent/ion (in saying so). Planet Earth is overpopulated. There, I’ve said it. I know few people (in person) who disagree, but many are shy to say so because there’s some guilt associated with the position, as if one advocates eliminating (or killing) billions of people.

Last weekend I spoke to my father about how police deals with death threats. Overcrowded nations, he explained, cannot keep up with most death threats. In the past, he said, when the global population was a lot smaller (when he was a kid in 1960 the number of people was a lot smaller; see population size graphs, in the 1960s there were 3 billion known humans, now we approach 10 billion!) the cops could more or less deal with all cases in a timely fashion. Now the police is understaffed, underfunded, and ill-equipped.

It bodes not positively (to say the least) for our future. Controlling “the masses” is getting harder and harder. Law enforcement isn’t keeping up.

T seems like August has already begun and Rianne’s birthday is a few weeks away. Today we expect some publicity and tomorrow we have an election here.

From what I can gather, the platform I’ve promoted for decades is winning the battle of attrition, which means more “mainstreaming”.

I plan to keep this blog increasingly active for the foreseeable future. It was mostly neglected for two decades because of Techrights.

T was 15 years ago when I first met Rianne. It was at a birthday party of a friend of hers and a friend of mine. We started chatting randomly and soon figured out we had a lot in common, including our Computer Science background.

A lot of time has passed since then and I do my best to be a good husband. This coming Saturday we’ll do something special but modest.

I should note that the reason Microsofters try to put me and my wife in prison [1-3] is because I did the right thing and protected my wife, whereas the Microsofters would just strangle women or worse.

Some people, instead of trying to become better human beings, try to become better sociopaths.

spoke to my sister today (that’s her above) one last time before her wedding tomorrow. It’s hard to believe how fast people grow up. She’s now managing a team, doing programming while using Debian 11, just like me. Tomorrow she’ll be officially married to another technical person. Life passes by when you don’t pay attention. We all grow older, but some take advantage of the time they have on this planet. Some waste it away.

This is me aged 16, back in the days I was playing tennis a lot.

ITH the rapid growth of so-called ‘social’ networks and that rather disturbing hype around ‘clouds’ usually comes a mindset shift; a lot of people foolishly turn to other parties to not only host — in the datacentre sense — their sites (or accounts) but also to manage all of their software and control their data. I have been trying hard to resist that, especially for photos hosting. Our wedding (and beyond) album now has over 400,000 views and the albums I set up in 2005 (using Gallery) has outlived many PHP changes, albeit with some efforts (code changes and migrations).

People don’t need surveillance and censorship platforms such as Facebook in order to share photographs. Facebook is people who are lazy and irresponsible, not technically-inept.
