Today we took a look at a large construction project across the road from the stadium. 3 months ago that construction project was still in its diapers, as can be seen in this video of “Pep” inside the taxi (where he picks up the grown up “kid”).

That project replaces a truly awful and high-crime area that was an eyesore and a problem for the stadium’s image… and problem for the pub across the road (where we watched the England-Argentina semi-final), even the Tesco Express down the road. It’ll not look like this when done:

Pubs around that area are dying. They become relics. We run past them sometimes. That makes way for more “modern” things:

rowing up in the 1990s, I listened to a lot of music. Walkman was a thing back then, Discman came when I was in my early teens. My sister was collecting albums and I mostly “borrowed” (from her shelves) her music, which meant my taste in and exposure to music was heavily influenced by hers.

I am mostly grateful for it.

One thing that I can never forget is that she won many CDs by answering questions on the radio. Sometimes she phoned “too much” and won “two much”, so her little brother (me) phoned instead. I don’t know or cannot recall how many CDs I won this way, but I roughly remember which ones I won.

o in mid-May they replaced all the major internal parts of our washing machine. We had paid a lot of money for warranty and now, only 3 months later, the machine makes odd noises. As if those machines are made to fail no matter what… and extended warrantees are a waste of money.

We’ll have to call them some time to schedule another visit. Are “modern” washing machines made to fail no matter what – to the point where more than a few components aren’t meant to last beyond 4 or 5 years? What components do last a decade or longer?
