Thank you very much, Simon. Your suggestion works perfectly well and I have
tested it to confirm that it achieves /exactly/ what I was after (image
watermarking).
Does that make me an 'expert, novice grade' now then ;-)
Of course, your next challenge is to persuade your software vendor
that in the Unix world, software should really be scriptable (where
it makes sense of course) and that you could so easily have used
their tool from within a script if they'd written it right !
