It is worth checking that the remote machines allow SSH connections to be
established. Just because the daemon is running, does not necessarily mean
they will accept your connection (I think), especially if these machines
are not administered by yourself. I have heard of VPN being blocked, but
not Telnet, RLogin and the like.
