Can you have a look at the X logs? Probably in:
/var/log/XFree86.0.log
Have you made backups of your X86/Xorg configuration file?
ls /etc/X11/ ("X11" directory name might vary)
Any YaST backup of the files, e.g.
XF86Config.bck
XF86Config.saxsave
?
If so, save the existing (potentially rotten) XF86Config for backup purposes
and overwrite it with one of the above files. Any luck? Do the logs give any
useful indication? Can you:
startx
?
kde
?
