I wouldn't say that RH abandoned their client base, FDC5 is a very good
product, maybe they put more of their resources into the already stable
server side than was necessary. RH (IMHO) still produce the best Linux
server. (though I haven't tried the new Suse enterprise yet).

They could I think put more resources into the clients, particularly for the
home users because there is more work for a user to do than with the likes
of Mandriva, Suse, Linspire and Ubuntu. We have to be prepared for more and
more users that can not or do not want to take more effort than simply plug
the DVD into the drive and 30minutes later have a working system. Mandriva,
Suse, Linspire, Ubuntu and others have addressed that and I can't
understand why RH are slower in that area.

But for RH as Linux clients move into the work place, those who have
experienced RH servers will be attracted to RH clients for the same basic
silid system knowning that once set up it will sit there trouble free for
years to come, but currently IT gets an easier setup with one of the other
clients.

It has to be to RH's benefit to put more resources into that area.
