I believe that Mac OS X beat Linux to it, but it was actually a third-party
piece of software. In my humble opinion, there are better ways to managing a
busy desktop. I have been using KasBar quite happily for several years. It
provides previews of the processes (windows) and may even become more useful
than this 'scale plugin'. What I find most valuable, however, is division to
virtual desktops and the use of a good pager. It's like having a small-scale
'scale plugin' somewhere on the screen. KPager supports drag-and-drop, click
to focus, and it also displays wallpapers and live window appearance as
XPM's. Still a little buggy in KE 3.1, but perfect in KDE 3.4.
