Well, presumably:
RC1 = the first release of, say, Product XYZZY.
Then RC2 = RC1 + SP1, RC3 = RC2 + SP2, etc. Of course
one could quibble endlessly here, and/or play all sorts
of patch number games, especially if one includes slashes,
dashes, and letters.
Come to think of it, Vista is a mix of ancient Roman
(VI = 6) and other codes. Maybe it's service patch 2.6?
