Software, unlike cars, does not wear out. Convincing people to upgrade can be
hard. Changing applications is another matter and free software, provided
that there's no shift in skills and formats, resolves all these issues.
People will wait until/unless they absolutely must move on, or until the
next hard-drive crash. Not everyone will buy a new PC, so Linux and OSS
proponents are in an advantageous position.
