Passing through PCWorld and Comet yesterday (buying a hotplate, in fact
:-), my lad, ever on the lookout, noted that they only had one Mac in
the store, and only one colour of iPod, so he asked where the others
were... the answer was that they'd sold out of both Macs and iPods.
Of course, you could have any number of Windows PCs, but nobody was
really paying all that much attention to them.
Further, they'd sold out of Nintendo Wiis, too!
Considering that we're only about 2 weeks to christmas, it would suggest
that selling PCs is not the lively and fast-moving business it was.
The biggest danger from this, from the linux perspective, is that
Microsoft might have made the PC so undesirable that even a really good
Ubuntu install on a PC might not be enough to bring people around!
