I guess that this short period of time provides an explanation after all.

I know nothing about the period of sanboxes (if they exist at all), but I
imagine that they scale in some well-behaved manner. I can't believe it's
just a sudden drop or else people would whine about it often and sandbox
would be much beyond a theory.
