At the time (years ago), I actually found that a good route
to migration is a dual-boot system where merely anything is
done under Linux. At the time, the only dissatisfaction I
had with Linux was Web browsing (that was well before
Firefox 1), which sometimes failed to render MSIE-centric
pages. It wasn't the fault of Linux. (Much) Later came
OpenOffice 2, but I never cares much for Microsoft Office.
Videos are another issue that has been solves since.
