Well, err, yes, at least until metal-fatigue was understood.  It's still
flying now as Nimrod, of course, and would've been the main airborne
early-warning system had it not been for Margaret Thatcher falling into
the "American is good" thinking and getting us locked into technology we
do not control.  Stupid.
