I was thinking: with chipsets that integrate ATI's gate
design along with AMD's, wouldn't it be natural to assume
that GPU's will become or come as standard? What, for
example, will be the implication on cost, considering the
fact that you deal with a single wafer that is cheap to
manufacture? (neglecting return on R&D) Adding a few more
transistors would not elevate the cost much, so it's
unlikely that AMD will exclude these. In fact, they will use
that as extra, overly-compelling added value.

Given the fact that so many Linux servers out there run on
64-bit AMD's, would there be a greater-than-ever incentive
for AMD to improve ATI's support for Linux? Again, it's just
a thought... kind of rambling here, but I hope my wishful
thinking becomes a reality. If ATI's work becomes somewhat
of a commodity... a consumable (like some basic, rudimentary
sound cards)... then every Linux machine out there will
demand compatibility, for which AMD will reap financial
rewards (unlike its competitors that are destined to
suffer).

Best wishes,

Roy
