TinyURL is poorly designed, though. There's no way to tell before clicking
where you will end up, and there are some places you don't want to end up.
A much better design would be for the URLs from TinyURL to have this form:
http:://tinyurl.com/xxxxx/prefix
where the prefix is optional. If the /prefix is omitted, it would work the
way it does now. If the /prefix is present, however, the redirector would
check to see if that was the prefix for the destination URL, and refuse to
redirect if it is not. So, for example, if I wanted to post a TinyURL to
Google, I'd post this:
http://tinyurl.com/161/www.google.com
and people who clicked on it could be confident that they weren't going to
end up at, say, goatse.cx or worse.
