Well, it can start a monopoly in another domain. Think, for example, about a
company selling routers, which decides to bundle servers in a way that
assists penetration into another niche. In the case of Google, for example,
you could help them have some plagiarism detector utility (yes, I know most
of them are based on Google already). Bad example, but still... if the
public contributes information to just one player... and that information
might be of high value, collectively... you know...? Like Spamcop.net.
