Update:

http://photomatt.net/2006/06/16/banned-from-google/

                        (published moments ago)

Even the Almighty Matt (#1 'matt' in Google) thinks that he got banned. I
have just sent him the nugget of information that you kindly shared with us.

So, on the face of it, those problems carry on and things are still getting
worse, for Google, as well as Webmasters. Matt used to have around a million
pages indexed and now it's just 1000. Igor has still got his 1.5 million
pages (thumbs not up), but who knows which site is due to be a sufferer
next...

I have been watching several sites closely (one was Matt's) to find more of
them falling victim to this 'update'. Google said a patch was applied, but
if this doesn't get fixed (reverted) quite soon, they might be entering a
dark age. If they are truly a search engine company, they ought to go back
and fix their bread and butter as quickly as possible.

One thing I wonder is: how long does it take to progressively and gradually
(re-)build the indices? If this requires a lot of computer power, I don't
expect things to revert to normality any time soon... there's the bandwidth
issue as well. Google still crawls, but no pages appear to be added to the
cache/index.

Best wishes,

Roy
