Perhaps Dell is making their decision now. Possibly they'll keep
selling XP, introduce more and more linux, and put a mention of Fisted
on the site for the 30 people who might be curious. But they might be
positioning themselves to move on once Vista comes out and sinks below
the sludge and debris on the bottom.*

HP is already positioned in the market in some countries should they
choose to head off that way. It wouldn't take much to make the push in
the rest of the world where they aren't doing much yet.

Gateway is never ready for changing trends, so don't be surprised if
they bleed millions trying to sell new crapware boxes before they
realize the world has passed them by again.

No doubt, though, the acceleration toward the end is coming on/about
01-2007.
