You could possibly resolve this problem yourself, without involving expansive
third parties. Use them as a last resort nonetheless.
I used to have a similar problem with a Compaq Presario 1246. Back in 2000,
such a problem was due to the power component requiring a replacement (it
was worn out due to wires being pulled). On other occasions it failed to
ever 'ignite'.
Remove the battery and wait for a while. Also consider ordering a the broken
components from Compaq/HP and welding it in, if you have the required
skills. If I recall correctly, someone once blamed this common Compaq laptop
issue on the motherboard. It was a long time ago, so all pretty vague in my
mind.
