Microsoft have been very successful at marketing themselves, possibly
the most successfull organisation of all time in this respect. There's
no doubt that this has left a whole generation of people utterly
confused as to what /really/ happened, and what did not. Most of
Microsoft's own publications have a presentation of events which is at
best questionable, and is probably most accurately considered to be
propaganda.
Winston Churchill had much the same view, paraphrasing "History will be
kind to me, because I shall write it!"
Well, I moot that the time be right to begin writing the history of
linux and free & open-source software.
