This only confirms my belief that many people (particularly if not solely
trolls) come to this newsgroup only to discuss people and wintness some
drama. I thought you were against that, CC. I thought you encouraged purely
technical discussions rather than insults and /ad hominem/ attacks that
pinpoint facts about the participants' personal lives (for credence or lack
thereof). This sometimes even involves stalking. I thought you said
something like "who gives a s**t" when Gary Stewart made up yet another
story (no, not the "beaten up by police in a gay club" delusion)---that
which argues that I'm Mark Kent. *LMAO*
Those who lack drama in their personal lives (assuming they have any) will
attempt to convert a technical online forum into a social meetup. In no
other technical newsgroup (albeit AI.search-engines, AW.webmaster and
uk.legal are getting close) which I know is there a community which attracts
obsessed, off-topic posters who are only after drama. Some of those drama
queens, by the way, just can't discuss technical things and I get the
impression that they only want to be affiliated with the regular crowd. It's
misfortunate.
