Well, you won't be using any banks or ATM's then. I don't know of any
current ATM that isn't Windows based. Older ones ran OS/2, but I think
they're largely phased out.
The author of the article, however, is a bit confused. Windows XP Embedded
is not a particular "edition", rather it's a set of tools that lets you
modularize any given version of XP (including Professional) and only
include those portions you want. A machine can very well be XP
Professional and still be XP Embedded.
Further, it's not really important if the ATM is running SP2 or not if it's
only connected to a secure internal network. And an RTOS is not needed for
the simple tasks of an ATM. You need an RTOS if you need real-time
support, and nothing in an ATM is real-time.
