no one has to develop exclusively for anything if one uses
perl/python/java. notice i do not mention mono, that's because of it's
forms. they're not that portable. i really don't see why the world takes
so fondly to .net/mono as it's not as portable as it's made out to be.
unless it's just to rub something in the face of ms over .net. i really
don't know.

to some extent using c is very much more portable than some might think.
avoid using platform specifics and there's no problem.
