Okay, I have to ask...this one is finally bugging me no end.
We talk about different marketshares for "servers". Windows servers,
Linux servers, Unix servers.
Well, what are we talking about mostly? I mean, are these file
servers? Ok, so how does a company, which runs all w2k PCs, use a
Linux fileserver? Are they setting up Samba, and I mean, really...are
people really integrating Linux servers into Windows networks as
fileservers?
Or what about applications servers...web servers? How can a .NET based
company suddenly start using Linux...and don't tell me mono. Yes, long
term, but not instantly.
I guess, I just can't imagine what a salesperson, walking into a typical
IT shop would actually say to the MIS head to make him buy and install a
Linux server.
Can someone tell me please?!
