Computer Evolution
,----[ Quote ]
| The history of computing has been defined by three major eras:
| mainframe, minicomputer and client-server. Now a fourth wave is
| emerging--and a chance to create the next tech giants.

|
| Third Wave
|
| 1985--present
|
| Cheaper still was a client-server setup linking PCs running Windows
| (clients) to big Unix boxes (servers). Led by Apple, Compaq, Dell, HP,
| IBM, Microsoft, Sun.
|
| Fourth Wave
|
| 2002--?
|
| Racks of cheap PC-style servers that run Linux software cut computing
| costs by 90%. New players: Rackable, Azul, Red Hat, MySQL.

Truthfully, it seems like Forbes has become infatuated by and obsessed with
the future, rather than 'cattle feed'. Forbes is not alone in this.
ChannelWeb and CRN openly wrote (in separate articles even) that Linux
articles raise their traffic by almost an order of magnitude. There is more
to Linux and more of it out there than MS brainwash would have you believe.
