Because there are plenty of people out there who don't care about such
things, or have no idea about it, or the software they use doesn't allow
for it.
Furthermore there are people who do give images a caption etc., but it's
not the right one. Have a look at a photo album and you know what I mean.
Then there are pictures that are mislabelled for one reason or another. I
had a millipede photo, but it turned out to be a centipede.

Yes, for a very small subset. Maybe play the label game a few times, and
then you'll see what kind of images needs a label.

Google is a company out their to make money. Anything that gets them ahead
of the competition :-D.
