This references a neat article on c vs. c++ for writing the gaming engine.

Interestingly, at the Sun Developer Days, they put together a
presentation with a code profiler.
They compared a simple java process with a Gnu/c equivalent and found
the java ran significantly faster ( whoddathunk, at a Sun conference,
right). However, when the gcc was optimized for the compiler they came
in closer to the same.
The point is that java has really come a long way to being just as good
(and certainly a /better/ in syntax for most people) a performance
language as the c's.
