On Software patents, the GPLv3 merely says that if you have a patent in
a particular area on which you have supplied GPLed code, you may /not/
pursue users of that code with respect to a licence for the patent.
Basically, it's about preventing submarine patents, and to me, seems
quite sane.

The alternative is that at some point, some organisation might try to
seek payment for the use of code which they knowingly introduced into a
GPLed source-tree.

I can see nothing there which would prevent Tivo, DVD players and/or
phones.  

I'm not so sure about the DRM angle - what do you think that the issue
would be?
