Re: Next Ubuntu Linux is "Hardy Heron" (LTS)

It was on, or about, Thu, 30 Aug 2007 15:06:08 +0100, that as I was
halfway through a large jam doughnut, Roy Schestowitz wrote:

It's not listed on the *normal* download site:-
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/getubuntu/download

So IMO you'd have to go looking for it:
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/tribe5

It says "testing" in the URL! And, you will note it says, quite clearly
in bold letters:- Note: *This is still an alpha release. Do not install
it on production machines*.

To download it, they would have to find this site:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/gutsy/tribe-5/

Now, if people don't understand what "alpha" or "beta" means, then they
should leave it alone.

Another thing about GNU/Linux is that you are *expected* to learn
*something* about the OS you're dealing with. Back in '96 when I first
started trying it, I did a lot of learning & by '97 was running it full
time (when I dumped Windows). I was *not* computer savvy, but I *learnt*.
These days, a lot of noobs don't seem to want to learn anything.

Apparently M$ thanked them for testing Fista, by telling them the test
version would expire & they'd have to buy it a full price. You'd have
thought that for their help, M$ would have let them have it a reduced
price. How anyone can stay loyal to that dictatorial regime, I fail to
understand.
