You should have read a few more messages there, including other threads.
Top posting seems to be acceptable there--perhaps even the majority
format, altough I did not take a large enough sample to reach a
conclusion.

That too seems common there. I suspect the problem is in the software
that makes the archive available on the web, and the messages look fine
when read on the actual mailing list.
