Spellchecker requires something like Office. I am always amazed to see that
Windows comes without something as simple and 'cheap' as a list/index of
words. It's just a way of urging the customer to pay for the second (and
more expensive) cash cow.
There are hacks though for getting a spellchecker on a barebone Windows XP
box. But why deliver a O/S in the shape of a 'teaster'? I mean, spellchecker
is something we all implemented as freshers at the University. And its cost
is as large (or small) as the vocabulary. That 3-minutes tune which comes
with Windows XP (alebit it's a hideen files) could easily be substituted
with something useful like a spellchecker.
