How long now before we get a dual-format *recorder*?

I can see the motivation for both formats (HDDVD using current
manufacturing processes, BlueRay having greater capacity).
Also, bear in mind that China has it's own format too, EVD, and
IIRC there are also a few other fringe products, so that
"fragmentation" is coming from many sources.
Overall I'd support BR, since it's built in to the PS3, has greater
capacity, and is not sponsored by the control freaks at Redmond
(although Sony are no angels either ... RootKit anyone?).
Either way, DRM is a (nasty) fact of life for next-gen DV, as is the
inevitable cracks for that DRM (already done in fact), so Linux
playback looks very likely.
Anyway, I'm in no hurry. It'll probably be the 2nd or even 3rd
generation before I even touch any HD equipment.
