Yes Windows is the best and Vista will be out in a few weeks.

No.
Linux just restricts you to what hardware you can purchase.
IOW better make sure that wireless card, motherboard, printer, Fax,
Scanner, audio card etc is FULLY supported by Linux before plunking down
your hard earned cash.
If you don't spend the time to check carefully you very well may end up
with a boat anchor.

So when will Linux programs finally reach V1.0 +X ?

And there is fragmentation and confusion in 500+ different versions of
Linux currently out there and growing larger and more confused each day.

Exactly, which is why people ignore Linux.
It's all about applications and Windows and OSX have the ones desktop
users are interested in.

Linux has buggy, half done applications.

The truth is all the geek masturbatory fantasies about Linux does not
change the fact that Linux's market share is dismal.
As a desktop system it is virtually unknwon outside of the geek community
and there is no data to suggest that anything will change in the near
future.

Vista is going to sink any last chance Linux may have had.
