So in the scenario I mentioned you would rather lose contact with the data
than have a rescue system?

I know what you will say, that 'you' would make sure you weren't in that
situation. Many who have found themselves in difficult situations like
those were the same as you.

Governments. What interest would the government have in your wage data?
Would the government want to break into the system to find your address or
national insurance number? No, because if they want that information all
they have to do is ring the tax office.

I am not American but I remember 7/11 very well. It so happens that I was
thinking about it on the way to work this morning. The way things were that
day I had walked into the work canteen and saw the live pictures of the
first tower on fire. I had no idea what was happening, then I watched live
as the second plane came in, I still didn't know at that time that the
first fire was caused by a plane. There is hardly a day goes by when that
part of the video doesn't replay itself in my mind.

So I am all for government investigators having what ever access and tools
they need to do their job. No one will ever change my mind on that.

But your Intuit data? What use would that be to to a government agency, none
at all because every piece of that information is already available to
them.
