Hi Roy,
I don't recall asking about filters. I thought my query was clear enough and
from your response (uncalled for btw) AIOE seems to have a bad reputation.
For some reason filters are worshiped in this newsgroup and I have
pondered several times as to why.
Actually it's not AIOE that has a bad reputation, it's
comp.os.linux.advocacy.
AIOE has banned the group several times due to excessive spamming.
I am nobody else but me (my name's Jonathan if that's important; Attila is
my desktop). I enjoy Cola and get a lot of useful information from what you
and others post. I'm a lowly debian user but I think that still counts as
linux. I see there are a lot of other replies so I'll stop here.
Cheers,
Jonathan
The group does have some useful information but I find the entertainment
factor the main reason for reading it.
This group is absolutely hysterical and I would reason to believe that a
person stumbling in here would be under the impression that this is
satire and not real.
I'm not sure what to make of the theme of the group but Linux advocacy
certainly doesn't seem to be high on the list except for Mr.
Schestowitz's messages and even those are difficult to read which is why
I prefer Mr. Kent's summary posts. The best I can tell is that this
group has a core group of posters that are very insecure with themselves
and Linux which is why they attack people, in mob like fashion, who
might have differing opinions on the various topics posted here. There
also seems to be quite a lot of fantasy posts along the lines of "Linux
is taking over, Microsoft is sinking" and so forth. These posts have no
basis in reality but in fact are creations of the radical Linux advocate
as much as the various similar themed Apple posts are the same.
I say enjoy it while you can because chances are good AIOE will dump the
group again sometime soon.
