I am using Ubuntu Feisty Fawn on an old Dell at the moment. It's a beast. I
set it up very quickly and my choice of distro was (once again, for the
third time) only influenced by the fact that it was the most recent burned
ISO available.
Ubuntu + KDE + Radeon dual head = Nirvana. This newer setup is much better
than before because with plenty going on in many desktop, the swap is not
even being touched (just 512 MB of RAM here). My only regret is that I
didn't make the transition (upgrade) years ago. But harbouring regrets
leads to sadness, so let's look forward to a more productive (and fun!)
future...
BTW, one thing ATI doesn't seem to be good for is dual-head Beryl/XGL. I
tried to take it for a spin, but it's not trivial. It turns out (in
yesterday's news) that Ubuntu will catch up with some other distros and
include a front end for setting up multi-head setups.
