[News] Adobe Curtails Linux Support with Apollo

Adobe Apollo blasts off, where will it take us?

,----[ Quote ]
| Adobe's stated target is "allowing web developers to build and deploy
| web applications to the desktop", which could help define a whole new
| class of network aware applications. While Apollo promises to be a
| cross-platform environment, although support for Linux isn't expected
| until sometime after the full 1.0 release; a real shame given its
| incredible potential.

Once again treating Linux users like second-class citizens, perhaps due to
Microsoft's 'market share' fast facts. It's like Flash 9 all over again.

The Coming Apollo vs. Firefox Battle

,----[ Quote ]
| The alpha download includes the Apollo runtime which embeds the WebKit
| open source web browser engine, an SDK for building applications, and
| an Eclipse plugin for Flex Builder. It?s aimed at developers who
| already know how to develop HTML and Flash applications but who
| want to target the desktop, whether it?s Windows, Mac, or Linux.
