[Hysterical crosspoting noted]

Portability and compatibility with /proprietary/ software needn't be a
criterion in such assessment. Lockin-based software is engineered to force
you to pay. It makes it harder to switch, due ("owing" rather) to lack of
data mobility. No standards, no transparency. It's stubborn by design.

Here you are offered a fine and functional application that will resolve your
issues of reliance and depedence once and for all. Of course, being shackled
might not bother you at all. Let the vendor just 'enhance' the EULA whenever
desired, force upgrades, drop backward compatiblity, change pricing, etc.

Proprietary software = vendor controls the cusotmer.

Open Source software = the customer's needs control the vendor
