I can't really see Microsoft taking all that much interest in direct
NNTP access to anything - it's a very old protocol, and there are web
interfaces all over for it.  They have far too much on their plates at
the moment to worry about this.  Our trolls will be a little stuck, I'm
sure, but will probably go with the "it's all too old for a modern
company like Microsoft to support";  much the same argument used for the
failure of Apple to support VCD playback in their OSX media player -
there was one of their most foolish astroturfers on here *defending*
Apple when I pointed out how disappointed my No1 son had been with that
issue, having spent so much money on a machine.  Of course, he soon had
mplayer on it, and later, Linux, so the problem went away...

Which is the proper solution for Microsoft's poor NNTP support - just
use Linux.
