This could indicate that there was some wrongdoing and the officials have
quickly sneaked out of what they attempted to do. I found this here (same
article apparently).
Linux wins Nigerian school desktops back from Microsoft

| "We are sticking with that platform," said the official, who would not give
| his name.

Worth mentioning however is the 'newer' news about Microsoft and Intel (yes,
those Microsoft boot lickers help Microsoft) fighting Linux in Russia
by "dumping" some charity and talking to officials...
Microsoft deals with open source software in Russian schools using Chinese
experience
,----[ Quote ]
| 1999 China government got concerned with dependence on Microsoft, so it
| decided to develop its own open source software on the basis of Linux, called
| Red Flag Linux. In Russia a similar program has just been launched. Up to
| 2009 end all Russian schools are to be supplied with the open source software
| package, created by the Russian programmers.

Keep an eye on this and watch how the out-of-control monopolies continue trying
to play whack-a-mole with cheaper alternatives (Intel did this to AMD as
well). They use deep pockets to ensure no 'resistance' can ever rise. It's not
competition. It's market abuse.
