Little Ballmer has once again used Novell as an excuse to attack Red Hat and in
his talk in the UK he concealed software patent under the "IP" umbrella. More
coverage from the talk.

Steve Ballmer on Open Source, Online and Other

| Any plans to bring development tools to other platforms? No.

Steve Ballmer: "I would love to see all open source innovation happen on top of
Windows"

,----[ Quote ]
| Steve Ballmer apparently likes open source. Well, so long as it drives
| Windows revenue. And doesn't replace any. Ever. In fact, as he said at an
| event in Microsoft last week in London that he hopes to see all open-source
| innovation going to Windows, rather than Linux (more below).

Novell uses Microsoft FUD to market itself

| That these claims also could be taken to mean that Novell is developing a
| non-standard Linux, one that is skewed only towards working with Windows,
| appears to have escaped Novell.
|
| In other words, Novell has an "in" with Microsoft which Red Hat does not;
| Utah and Redmond are in bed together and Red Hat is an intruder.

| you the link, but better still go to http://www.osnews.com  and you'll find
| the ad on pretty much any linux related page.

|
| Concerns have been raised that DR-DOS incompatibilities and flaws are
| being overlooked by reviewers.
|
| ..
|
| We recommend that we informally plant the bug of FUD in their ears.
| "Have you heard about problems with DR DOS?"
|
| "That security feature is a neat idea and, gosh, such a feature would be
| great, but it's just too easily circumvented"
|
| "Gee, it's unfortunate that DR DOS can't be loaded high all the time.
| MS-DOS 5.0 can" We'll do this very tactfully.
|
| ..
|
| The security features may lead someone to a false sense of security and
| someone may break into their payroll.
|
| ..
|
| * If Digital Research can to Microsoft for help in making DR DOS work
| with Windows, would Microsoft help them? Maybe not?
