CodeWeavers Releases 6.2 Versions of CrossOver with Outlook and Gaming Updates

,----[ Quote ]
| “We’re thrilled to be the only compatibility software on the market that will
| support Team Fortress II, out of the box, ” said Jeremy White, CodeWeavers’
| Chief Executive Officer. “Not only that, but gamers will find that CrossOver
| delivers much better frame rates in our supported game titles than other
| emulation solutions.”

Be aware that Microsoft used its deals with Xandros, Linspire and Novell to
discriminate against this project. And they sold out.

Microsoft cannot afford to lose Windows exclusiveness for applications and
games because it renders (the very broken) Windows obsolete.

CrossOver Linux 6.01 review

,----[ Quote ]
| Though each CrossOver Linux (formerly known as CrossOver Office)
| release offers substantial improvements, version 6.01 is the most
| revolutionary release I have seen since I started reviewing this
| product circa version 3.0. Many important new programs are
| supported, but the real news is not in the number of programs
| supported, but also their purpose: World of Warcraft, Half Life,
| and iTunes now have silver (almost perfect) status along with
| dozens of other applications. There are nine gold applications
| now as well. Overall, CrossOver has again made a number of
| significant and upgrade-worthy improvements to an already
| useful product.

"Crossover - Easing a Linux Transition"

,----[ Quote ]
| The more I use Linux Ubuntu, the more I like. Earlier I tried to install
| some Windows apps using WINE, a freeware program to install Windows
| software into Linux, but with no success - for a newbie, I found it
| difficult to use.

| For this article, I took all these screenshots with an Ubuntu app, loaded
| the pics (with .png extension) into Photoshop 7, edited and saved them
| as .jpgs for this article. I am impressed with Crossover's ability to
| enable some very heavy duty Windows software to run in Linux, but also
| recognize that it's a great crutch that should not be relied upon long
| term.
