Free Finance Software for Windows & Linux

.----
| cybernet: Ever since we wrote about Mint, the free finance
| management site, we have received a few requests from those looking
| for good software to manage personal finances. I found exactly what
| I was looking for: Money Manager Ex. Not only is it free, but it is
| open source and available for both Windows and Linux!

I thought this bit was especially interesting:

.----
| Originally I developed a personal finance software called Money
| Manager. It was written in .NET and more of a learning excercise
| than serious software development. It grew far beyond the original
| design. The software was frozen and work began on a new version
| which had a similar user interface and features, but written in
| C++.

Hmm, it seems .NET is not a popular choice these days.

Wise decision. Wouldn't want to poison Free Software with something
encumbered with Microsoft toxin like Mono.

It's good to see a fully Free GPL accounts package of this calibre for
GNU/Linux. Of course there are also proprietary solutions too, Like
Personal/Business Accountz by Accountz.com limited (thanks again to
Robin Pain for my free copy).

That reminds me, I still haven't done that review...
