No, because they like the product. In most cases, it's as simple as that.
Take my brother, for instance. He's a staunch Linux user, has been for
more than ten years, and got me into it too. He's also got a Mac Mini, and
a video iPod. He bought his first iPod some time back from Apple, and he
realy likes his Mini, which he uses as a media storage hub.

People buy Apple products because they're attractive and well-designed,
and do what the buyer wants. Some of it's hype, maybe, but when the hype
dies down, people are still buying the product.
