In the roughlydrafted article,
http://www.roughlydrafted.com/RD/TechQ307/Entries/2007/8/25_Nintendo_Wii_vs_Sony_PlayStation_3_vs_Microsoft_Xbox_360:_Q2_2007.html
he says that both Microsoft and Sony figures for the last quarter are
units shipped, not sales. I had the
impression that sales figures were not available. I tried to follow
his references, but got bored by the
finacial reports. Also, that article refers to world-wide sales (or
units shipped), not the US figures alone
which are more favorable to Microsoft (which of course is why our
nymshifting Mr Hoel=Sgt Bilko=flatfish=...
troll is citing US figures alone). According to roughlydrafted, both
Sony and Xbox sales have been flat in the
last quarter, but the real story is Nintendo, which has now exceeded
slightly the Microsoft installed base for
Xbox 360 (both at about 12 million, see the nice charts in the
article). Nintendo is up dramatically, and according to the article,
these are sales, not units shipped. It'll be interesting to see how
things are in December, but right now Nintendo is shellacking
Microsoft.
