Apple is menawhile expanding (hiring more staff and opening new  branches
around the world), despite the deflation. Since Apple sells its wares for a
cost, it's possible to measure its success (at Microsoft's expense in several
areas). Linux is a different case because there's no company behind it.

Remember that Vista had spread its bad DNA to Home Server and Longhorn (WS08)
and all future releases will be based on that very same codebase, which is
rotten. Saying that Vista is a problem is not enough; you can generalise and
look ahead, then say that _Windows_ (not just Vista and its siblings) is a
dead-end codebase.
