Mandriva has joined with two hardware developers to put the Linux OS on
Intel Atom desktop machines & mini laptops.
Precedent Technologies will market the TechSurfer.
Interestingly enough, they say the prices *start* at $399.99.
Apart from Mandriva Linux, they offer the machines with Windows XP Home
Edition or Vista Home Basic Edition. What they don't tell you, on the
website, is that if you want eX-Pee installed, it's $100 *more* than with
Mandriva, & if you want Vista Home Basic Edition, it's even more.

The mini laptops are by Gdium. It's expected to launch in September, with
a price below $399. http://www.gdium.com/
