I, for one, would love to see the third world bypass industrialization
and fast forward to where the US is at with a "service" economy. It's a
waste of human capital to have them, essentially, sitting on their hands
instead, say, inventing the next DRM ;)
When the Berlin wall fell, some former east bloc countries went from
crummy phone service and jumped to cell phones and the internet. India
also is undergoing a revolution just by having reliable (cell) phones.
If they choose to eschew US IP, like windows, oh well, it's a loss for
the US but a gain for the world.
