Xbox 360 slapped back down in Japan

,----[ Quote ]
| Well given that the console supplies were exhausted in the country, it is not
| surprising that sales of the Microsoft Xbox 360 console in Japan have
| reverted to bottom of the heap.

This relates to some hype Microsoft seeminly generated some days ago. I was
also sent this by E-mail:

While Chairman Bill is new gimmicks to get suckers to test his DRM'd commodity
hardware, real console are in stark contrast doing productive things that
can't be done with the weak imitations from Redmond:

Since few game and use the PC at the same time, it'd kick ass to be able to use
the PS3 or Wii as a 1 node render farm for graphics when it's not in use as a
game console.

Xbox sucks at everything except DRM prototyping.

[...]

Oh I didn't say they were good at it or getting it working, ;)

just that it is for prototyping DRM. MS being a lobbying / marketing
firm (if not downright a political movment), the approach is more to
prototype social engineering of DRM than software engineering of DRM.

PS. I am trying to find yet another article. IIRC there was one on
LinuxInsider by the pseudonym Paul Murphy. Anyway, by him or not, it
was about a form of 'sour grapes' called the Microsoft Effect where
people are stunned into apathy and in action by assuming that all
software sucks as bad as MS and therefore don't make an effort to even
investigate other options.

| Do you see the above? I declare that we call it the Vapor Wand. It is because

| Guess the "inventory" excuse is now out. So maybe this explains why MSFT
| reshuffled management this week.

| It's weird that Mini and all the commenters here have failed to notice the
