Mepis AntiX 7.01
,----[ Quote ]
| AntiX isn't quite as small as Damn Small or Puppy, but as far as I can tell
| it's just as useful, and offers a slightly different look and feel. Will it
| replace DSL as my ultra-light of choice? Perhaps not, but it does give me
| another option in the future.
|
| For those who like lightweight operating systems, are tired of KDE and Gnome,
| or just want to try something different, AntiX is something to consider.
|
| I was impressed by the small memory footprint and solid Debian backing that
| left things open for me to add in after the fact.

Review: Antix 7.5
,----[ Quote ]
| So, over all, I think Antix is the best, most fully featured Lightweight
| Linux distro I’ve tested thus far. It even beats out Puppy Linux 4.0. So my
| current recommendation list would be Antix, Puppy Linux, and then Feather
| Linux. If you have an older computer that you don’t want to send to the junk
| bin - install Antix! You get the awesome Debian base under the also awesome
| (so I’ve heard) base of Mepis. You get nice, functional software and there
| weren’t any boot problems. I didn’t need any “cheat codes” to get it to
| boot. It looks good and, with a package that would add icons to the desktop,
| I’d probably use this for the guest computer so visitors could browse the web
| without me worrying about them introducing viruses to my computers. Oh, and
| it looks slick with the “transparent” xterms. Let me end with a screenshot
| of the IceWM environment, which I would recommend if you wanted to use this
| for a guest computer where people will be expecting Windows and looking for
| a “start menu”.

Review: antiX Mepis 7.5 'Toussaint Louverture'
,----[ Quote ]
| So, would I recommend antiX 7.5, given the improvements that have been made
| since my last review?
|
| Absolutely, unreservedly, yes.
|
| It is lightning fast, highly configurable and with a thoughtful and easily
| extended package selection.
|
| It is a great place to learn how Linux in general and Fluxbox in particular
| work.

AntiX saves the day
,----[ Quote ]
| There's more. You can use AntiX as a rescue system when you mess up your MBR
| or change your partition numbers, requiring you to change your boot loader
| entries and your disk mount table. AntiX helps you get in, mount your
| partitions and fix whatever you may need to fix. But then you just may want

antiX M-7, The Fat-free Mepis
,----[ Quote ]
| I would say that AntiX is highly recommended for those who have older
| machines because of its dependable hardware detection and its light
| footprint. While it did not perform as well as Xubuntu on my older laptop, I
| still consider AntiX as a very promising distro that could easily beat any
| lightweight distribution in the near future.

New AntiX distro makes older hardware usable
,----[ Quote ]
| I've been a fan of SimplyMEPIS for years. The distribution was one of the
| early pioneers in the field of user-friendly Linux development, and to this
| day offers a system that usually "just works." Earlier this month the MEPIS
| site announced a community variation for older computers based on
| SimplyMEPIS. AntiX is an installable live CD that features a modern kernel,
| recent X server, and lighter applications for use on computers with as little
| as 64MB RAM. I tried it, and liked what I found.
